My Fall Round-Up

Y’all, it feels soooo good to write a blog post again. For the last few weeks, I’ve been working feverishly to finish the first draft of my 2nd novel, Storm Shelter. This morning, I finished it! The first draft is sitting at about 62K words (142 pages with 1.5 spacing), so I’m really happy with that. But, I’m taking a quick break from my manuscript (letting it marinate a little) before jumping right in to my revising/rewriting process.

But now, it’s back to our regularly-scheduled program! I wanted to do a quick round-up of some of the things I’ve been loving this Fall:

NARS Climax Mascara. I first tried this mascara earlier this summer when I picked up a travel size at Ulta, and it’s seriously one of the best mascaras I’ve ever used. Eye makeup is one of the few cosmetic items that I will splurge on, mainly because it’s what I enjoy applying the most. I’ve tried a number of different mascaras, but this one is easily the best, most dramatic one I’ve tried, and I highly recommend it.

Pink Lily Hat. If I’m being honest, most Fall hats don’t fit my head because my head is too big, but I finally found one that does, and I love it. You can get it in five different colors, and it’s under $30. It’s the hat I’m wearing in all these photos, but that color is actually sold out.

Belk Boots. Well, booties, and specifically a brand called New Directions. I have two pairs from last Fall, but I added a pair of black ones this year, which you can see here. They are durable, comfortable, and affordable—three things that are important to me! Plus, Belk often has sales, and you can usually catch these books for under $40/pair. I have these and these. I also have a pair of Sperry boots that I’ll probably be wearing a lot this weekend while we’re in the mountains, and you can buy them at Belk, too. I have them in red, but I can’t find those online.

The Great British Bake-Off (on Netflix). Seriously, if you haven’t watched this show, you’re missing out. I love that it is NOTHING like American baking shows. It has none of the petty drama that you see on those shows. Plus, everyone is from the UK, and I love hearing their accents. It has really inspired me to bake, and I’ve got some fun new recipes I want to try for the holiday season.

True Crime Podcasts. I think Ryan might be concerned that I’ve gone down a weird, deep rabbit hole, but I’m absolutely obsessed with True Crime podcasts right now. I’ve done a lot of research to find the best ones to listen to, and I’m in deep, y’all! I’m officially a podcast-addict, and I’ve got a post coming soon with all my recommendations so far. I prefer podcasts that are shorter, only 5-10 episodes, or ones that are more continuous, like a weekly podcast that I can jump into without listening to the previous episodes.

Black & White Buffalo Plaid. In case you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s pretty much all over Hobby Lobby in the Christmas decorations section. I’ve got lots of decoration ideas pinned on Pinterest, and I’m struggling to wait until the day after Thanksgiving to decorate!

So that’s basically everything I’m loving this Fall. I’d love to know what YOU are loving this season, though, so please feel free to drop a comment and let me know.

Have a great weekend and, as always, thanks for following my blog!

Emma
