Happy Monday, y’all! Halloween is right around the corner, and if you’re anything like me, you probably haven’t given much thought to a Halloween costume. I’m still on the fence about whether or not I want to head out to one of the Halloween events around town or if I just want to stay home, watch Hocus Pocus for the hundredth time this month, and eat candy.
If you’re in need of a quick costume, you really don’t need to go any further than your own closet. Or maybe you husband or boyfriend’s closet, actually. In fact, I managed to come up with three relatively easy DIY outfits without buying a single thing or even leaving the house.
- Tacky Tourist.
This one is really easy. You only need a few key things: a brightly-colored Hawaiian shirt (you can also find these at Goodwill sometimes, usually in the men’s section), a sun-visor or floppy sunhat, and some super touristy accessory (fanny pack, map, binoculars, fake Hawaiian lei, etc.)
2. Safari Woman.
To be fair, this one could also be grown-up Bindi Irwin, but it’s fun either way. I styled it mainly around my new Fall hat, then added one of Ryan’s work shirts, some black shorts, brown booties, and a black bag. Zookeeper, safari woman—whatever you want to call it, it works. And it was really easy to put together, even though Ryan said that my pants and shirt needed to match if I was a zookeeper!
3. Holly Golightly.
This one was stretching a bit, but I really wanted to prove that you could pull an outfit together with whatever you have lying around the house or hanging in your closet. I picked a basic black dress out, paired it with some black flats, pearl necklace, and black sunglasses and voila! It’s not perfect, but it’s relatively recognizable.
So there you go! Three easy outfits you can throw together with a few hours to spare or even at the very last minute. Some other ideas I had that would be pretty simple to put together are a marathon runner (athletic clothes and a race metal), Rosie the Riveter (jeans, chambray top, red bandana in hair, and red lipstick), and of course, you could always do what Jim did on The Office and be a three-hole punch for Halloween!
Happy Monday, y’all!

Emma,
Your blog looks great! I love the costume ideas, I think I could pull the Tacky Tourist off pretty easy, except I would probably have a phone instead of a map, haha. Here is the link to my blog, I am currently working on the Educational aspects of YouTube, check it out sometime. https://moderneducationviayoutube.wordpress.com/
I am really starting to like blogging, the more I do it the more ideas I get 🙂
