Happy Friday, y’all! I am so excited because my debut novel, The Lights Out Club, is officially available on Amazon!
I can’t even begin to describe the flood of emotions I’m feeling today. This book has been nearly two years in the works, and to finally have a book published—to say that I am officially an author—is almost surreal. And yet, it feels like the most natural thing in the world. Since I was a child, I have known that I was going to write books one day. And here I am, writing books. And now you get to read my book!
Already, the outpouring of love and support has been amazing. So many people have requested signed, personalized copies, so I’m busy working on those. My family and friends have all been so encouraging and supportive, too, and I couldn’t be more grateful to have the cheerleaders that I do.
The Lights Out Club has, like I said, been a two year project. It has gone through hours and hours of revisions and rewrites. I have poured my blood, sweat, and tears into the story, and it’s like giving a piece of myself to the world. I’m both scared and excited to see what sort of reviews my book gets (I know some criticism might be tough to read) but this is all part of the journey.
I owe a lot to my mom, Emmye, who really fostered a love of reading & writing in all of her children, but especially me. She was also the editor for The Lights Out Club, which was a huge undertaking! I also want to give a huge shoutout to my husband, Ryan. Being married to a writer isn’t always easy, and these last few weeks leading up to the publishing date have been really tough—mainly because I haven’t really been cooking or cleaning! Ryan, you’re the best, and I love you! You’re my biggest cheerleader!
And, of course, thank YOU! To all my blog readers and followers, I appreciate your excitement and encouragement so much! I’m so happy that you get to share in this journey with me!
