Hi, My Name Is Emma.

Hey y’all! I finally took the leap and decided to start my very own blog. I’m guessing many of you already know who I am, but if not, let me introduce myself.

My name is Emma, and I’m a twenty-six year old living in Mt Pleasant, SC with my husband Ryan and our Border Collie, Goose. I was born and raised in Georgia, and I attended Georgia Southern University where I met my husband. He moved to Charleston after we graduated, and I moved to Savannah, GA for a year. We got so tired of living two hours apart that I requested a job transfer and moved to Charleston to be closer to him. We were only dating at the time, but a month after I arrived, he proposed. We got married in April 2017 and just recently celebrated one year of marriage!

I’ve been itching to start a blog for weeks, but I just wasn’t sure if I wanted to add anything else to my already-busy life. Currently, I work a full-time job (Financial Specialist at Pinnacle Financial Partners), I’m revising the first draft of the novel that I wrote over the last year, I’m a staff writer for a local newspaper, and I’m a full-time wife and dog-mom. Why would I want to add anything else to my plate?

I’ll tell you why: Because I love writing. I began writing stories almost from the time I could write my name, and I haven’t stopped since. My passion has developed over the years, and I’ve actually written two novels! One of them is tucked away, likely to never be published, but my current novel is going to be published someday. Not sure when, but being a published fiction author is one of my main goals in life.

The second reason that I decided to start a blog is because of our 2018 Summer Bucket List. See, last year, Ryan was working in Columbia and living there during the week, so we didn’t have much time together. When he was home on the weekends, he was exhausted, and we mainly went to the beach and ate at the same four or five restaurants. This summer, though, I plan for us to accomplish a lot and explore parts of the city that we never have. I want us to be tourists in our own town! I’ve got a whole list of places for us to see, restaurants for us to try, and activities for us to do. I’ll be sure to share those with y’all soon.

Anyways, I’ve been toying with this idea of a blog for a while, and finally I decided to talk it over with Ryan. I knew it would require a good bit of work, but I also needed his commitment to having an active, busy summer and his help in breaking out of our routines. Not only that, but I also needed to know that Ryan would be willing to help me with the photography for my blog (he’s incredibly talented with his camera). We decided that if I was going to do this, I needed to  DO IT RIGHT. To plan it, to put in the effort, and to make it the best that it can be.

In addition to sharing about our summer, I plan to share about my writing progress and the road to publishing. I’m also hoping you’ll be interested in some of the books I read, cause I’d like to share some book reviews as well. If I try an awesome new recipe, maybe I’ll include that. Please give me feedback on what you like/don’t like.

So here I am, embarking on a new endeavor. I hope you follow along with me and my little family. Please be sure to follow me on Instagram and let me know if you want to hear more!

  1. My guilty pleasure food is mozzarella sticks, and I love getting them as a snack from Sonic, which happens to be only a few miles from our apartment.
  2. I’m the youngest of—wait for it—NINE children! My family is like the “Brady Bunch”. Daddy had two, Mama had three, and together they had four more! We’re one big, chaotic, unique, happy family!
  3. I have seen every episode of Friends at least 10-15 times. I watch it over and over, and I hope it never leaves Netflix because I would be devastated! It’s my go-to for background noise when I write, and I could watch it all day long. And also, I’m basically Monica. I’m OCD about cleaning, I’m loud, and I can be pretty bossy!
  4. I read anything I can get my hands on! Any genre, any author—anything! My favorite book of all time is Little Women, but I love “beach reads”, especially ones set locally (hint hint about what my book might be like!), but lately I’ve been on a YA dystopian and fantasy binge…that might end soon.

  1. Emma, I’m so excited for you! Congratulations and Good Luck! I’ll be following. If I can figure out how. 😊

  2. Excited to follow your blog now that I know how to find it. It’s fun to see your thoughts on paper since we often are witness to your diligence in jotting them down. It’ll be one more way to keep in touch.
